Our Artists

About The Gallery +Emporium

We plan to run workshops throughout the year

Walk in and to your left are beautiful wooden walls showing the paintings of Rachel Hirabayashi. Poised and calm the paintings take you across the recalled landscapes of Southern New Zealand.

If you turn right, the joy of many interesting and different works draws you into a curious and quirky world.

Sometimes things come together in unexpected ways. An opportunity arises that you just have to take. So when a friend said there was a vacancy coming up in Old Cromwell at the Heritage Precinct things moved fast. At every question, at every stumble, the simple truth was we had to make this work. Because Rachel and her work belong here. As do her artist friends and family. And you!

Emporium

Built with the artwork of friends and family the displays and cabinets are filled with the strangest of many things. Inspired by Rachel’s home, the gallery is decorated with the bits and pieces picked up on travels and walks. Wired together in mobiles and hung up on driftwood and ladders. Things are a bit different here, that’s just how we like it.

Please come and join us in the Rachel Hirabayashi Gallery and Emporium.
